It has been discovered that @ilstu.edu accounts with forwards in place may have seen their outgoing mail delayed since the SMTP security filters were put in place on Friday, March 18. That problem has been resolved this afternoon, and all outgoing mail that had been queued up is now being sent. No outgoing mail was lost or rejected in this process.
The Help Desk has received reports from users having problems accessing off-campus Internet resources (web sites, etc.). Networking has been notifed about the problem and is currently working to resolve it.
This problem has been resolved. Access to the Internet has been restored.
One of the blacklists used to block spam on the campus mail system became corrupted this morning, and caused a temporary problem where most email sent from outside the University was blocked by that blacklist as spam. Senders should have received a message back from their email service provider stating that "550 Denied by policy: Sender is listed on DNS-based RBL.". The corrupted blacklist was removed, which resolved this problem. The @ilstu.edu domain has not been blacklisted, although it may appear that way from the messages.
