Internet Performance Degraded

Several campus buildings are reportedly having problems accessing off-campus Internet websites. Some may also be having problems accessing on-campus sites, as well. All campus buildings may be affected by this issue. Networking is aware of the problem and is working to resolve it.

Network Maintenance

A network maintenance outage is scheduled for Sunday, April 17 between 8a and 4p. The following environments will be impacted by this work.
  • Center for the Visual Arts
  • Centennial East and West
  • Bone Student Center
  • Milner Library
  • Linkins
  • Walker
  • Watterson
  • DeGarmo
  • Facilities Planning
  • Bowling and Billiards Center (before noon)
  • University High School
  • Chicago Office
  • Center for Performing Arts
  • Physical Plant
  • John Green
  • Julian
  • Fell
  • Felmley
  • Conferencing Unit
  • Hovey
  • Fairchild
  • Redbird Arena
In addition to the above work, there will also be periods of sporadic Internet connectivity as we upgrade security appliances. After this maintenance window is complete, full connectivity will be restored.

The Redbird Card System will be offline in these locations for the duration of the network maintenance outage.

TouchNet Maintenance

The TOUCHNET (campus credit card software) server is scheduled to be upgraded on Tuesday, April 12, 2005 between 7am and 9am. Users are instructed to avoid using TOUCHNET and CCWEB for the duration of this maintenance outage.

AIS Web Server Outage

The main AIS web server is down due to a hardware failure. The following web resources (websites) are not available at this time:
  • AIS home page
  • Human Resources
  • University Calendar
  • Athletics
  • Comptrollers
  • Mainframe FTP
  • Web Credit Card
The AIS system administrators are aware of the problem and are currently working to resolve it.

Update

Some of the AIS websites are now back online, including the Human Resources website. Others, such as the University Calendar, are still offline. AIS continues to resolve this problem and bring all affected websites back online.

Phishing: Phishing Scams

Members of ISU continue to receive a large volume of phishing scam emails. Many of these scam emails are disguised as security alerts sent by banks (Huntington Bank, Region Bank, Union Planters, etc.), eBay, PayPal, and many others. Do NOT enter ANY personal information (including passwords, social security number, credit card number, PIN number, etc.) in response to these fake security notifications. For more information on these widespread scams, plese visit the Help Desk website and the Federal Trade Commission website.
