ISU Web server & Datastore Outage

The main ISU web server experienced hardware component failure overnight and as a result the top-level ISU web presence and Datastore shares are temporarily unavailable. Replacement parts will not be available until tomorrow morning, Monday the 16th. We expect the services to again be available sometime tomorrow.

This outage also caused the iCampus portal to be temporarily unavailable until approximately 10:15 am this morning. There is an RSS feed on the portal login page that receives its updates from the Alerts page, which is itself unavailable due to the web server failure. That problem has been resolved. Submission of grades through iCampus can continue as scheduled today with no further affect from this unscheduled outage.

Update

CISS personnel were able to fix the hardware problem with the main web server, and the top-level ISU web presence and Datastore shares are again available. We will continue to monitor it in case the problem recurs.

Datatel Maintenance

The Datatel Financial System will be unavailable beginning at noon on Friday, May 27, and will be unavailable throughout the Memorial Day weekend. During this maintenance outage, Datatel will be performing the SSN/UID conversion. Once this maintenance is complete, Datatel access will be restored.

The Datatel Financial System will be unavailable until noon on June 6 while scheduled maintenance is performed. Once this maintenance outage is completed, access to Datatel will be restored.

The next network maintenance outage is scheduled for Sunday, May 15 between 8a and 4p. During this outage, TNSS will be performing various software and hardware upgrades throughout the network. The following environments will be impacted by this work.

After this maintenance window is complete, full connectivity will be restored.

More info about the scheduled network maintenace:

In McCormick Hall, there will be two separate network outages on Sunday for
hardware upgrades. Each will last between 30-60 minutes and should occur
within the same 2 hour window.

In Science Laboratory Building, there will also be two separate network
outages for hardware upgrades. These outages will only impact connectivity
on the first floor. Each will last between 30-60 minutes and should occur
within the same 2 hour window.

In Bone Student Center, there will be two separate network outages for
hardware upgrades on Sunday. Each will last between 30-60 minutes and
should occur within the same 2 hour window.

In the following locations, there will be network outages for software
upgrades on Sunday. Each will last between 5-10 minutes. Depending upon the
building, there may be multiple outages due to the number of platforms
we're upgrading. TNSS will commit to completing the software upgrades in all
of the locations below between 8a and noon.

We are postpoing our work planned in Julian, Stevenson, and Cook until the
June maintenance window so that we do not disrupt service for many of the
centralized systems on Sunday. In Walker Hall, there will be a very brief
network outage.

Datatel Maintenance
