Mainframe Outage

The mainframe is currently unavailable due to an unscheduled outage. AIS staff are aware of the problem and are currently working to resolve it.

Campus Email Outage

Campus email was unavailable early this morning due to a hardware problem with the anti-virus appliance that checks incoming and outgoing email for viruses. The appliance was not allowing incoming connections to the mail server, and so users were unable to check email. This problem has been resolved, and no mail was lost during the outage.

Network Maintenance

The next network maintenance outage is scheduled for Sunday, May 21 between 8a and 4p. During this outage, Telecommunications & Networking will be performing various software and hardware upgrades throughout the network. The following environments will be impacted by this work.
  • Watterson Towers
  • Watterson Commons
  • Edwards Hall
  • Old Union
  • Fairchild Hall
  • Metcalf Lab School
After this maintenance window is complete, full connectivity will be restored for all of these environments.

Unscheduled Outage

At 4:45pm it appears that Hovey Hall has lost network connectivity.  Staff are currently working to resolve the issue and we will post more information as it becomes available.

Update

Connectivity was restored approximately 5:50pm. An electrical outage in downtown Normal caused a power fluctation which was picked up by the Hovey UPS and that UPS failed. Once power was redirected from the failed UPS connectivity was restored.

Network Performance Degraded

Shortly before 3:30p this afternoon (5/8), the University began experiencing connectivity problems through one of two Internet Service Providers (ISPs) for ISU. Internet capacity has been reduced by 50% for the duration of this issue. The ISP experiencing this problem is investigating the matter.

Update

After investigating this problem, the ISP determined that a hardware fault created the outage. This problem was resolved around 4:15p this afternoon. Telecommunications & Networking have verified that Internet connectivity through the ISP has been restored.
